Mount HollyDays

Mount Hollydays was incorporated as a North Carolina nonprofit corporation on March 26, 2008.   The primary charitable purposes of Mount Hollydays are to work with other charitable, religious, and governmental organizations to serve the poor, elderly, homebound and otherwise disadvantaged residents of Mount Holly, North Carolina and to also plan, fund and participate in a variety of projects for the benefit of the Mount Holly community and its residents.  They will pursue these charitable purposes by raising funds from individuals, foundations, governmental agencies and the business community of Mount Holly.   Mount Hollydays anticipates that it will support, financially and through the efforts of volunteers, various projects in the Mount Holly community that benefit the community at large and the quality of life for its residents.

Mount Hollydays had its humble beginning in November of 2006 when long time friends Mimi Guin and Carol Ann Featherstone began brainstorming about ways to “energize” downtown Mount Holly during the Christmas Season.  With only three weeks of planning, they successfully executed (with assistance from the city) the first Mount Hollydays which included horse drawn carriage rides, a visit from Santa, local entertainment on the steps of the First Presbyterian Church, Victorian strollers, decorated store front contest, book signings and the city was offering complimentary hot chocolate and cookies at City Hall.  The Mount Hollydays celebrations and activities continued to expand in 2007, 2008 and 2009.  You will find a more detailed description of these growing events under the category of 2008 & 2009 In Review.  The atmosphere in downtown Mount Holly during these fun events created a nostalgic feeling of the past with people strolling the downtown enjoying the entertainment and friendships of others.
