Mount Hollydays sponsored the first inaugural Tree Lighting Ceremony in Historic Downtown Mount Holly on November 30, 2008. In addition to the City Christmas tree, there was a dedication ceremony for the new Solar Lights placed on many of the trees in the new Downtown Streetscape. The lights were made possible by donations from local citizens in honor or memory of family or friends. A list of the donors and honorees was read during the dedication of the lights.
In the spring of 2009, Mount Hollydays presented its first scholarship to a student at East Gaston High School. The scholarship, for a student in the Interact Club with the most community service hours, will become an annual event.
